Sixth Craft -- Twelve Days of Christmas Craft

Our sixth craft is going to be a T-shirt garland. You will need an old T-shirt (that you don't mind cutting up), and scissors. You could also use fabric markers to color on it if you want once it's done.

Here's what you need to do. First, make a cut into the shirt at the bottom of the shirt that goes diagonally up into the shirt about 2 or 3 inches. Then, make a straight line across and cut until you reach all the way around the shirt until you are some inches away from your diagonal cut and make a similar diagonal line that is parallel to the first diagonal cut. Spiral up the shirt like this as far as you want. Once your strip is made, go along the strip, fringing it by cutting smaller strips perpendicular to the edge of the strip, stopping about 1/2 centimeter away from the edge. Once you have fringed the whole garland, you can wrap it around a Christmas tree, hang it on a mantelpiece, or string it along the edge of a table. Just so you know, the one in the picture below only took about 7 inches from the bottom of the T-shirt to make. So if you used the whole shirt (stopping at the sleeves), you would end up with a really long strip.
