Here's what you will need to do: take three of the pieces of white scrap paper, layer them on top of one another, and cut as big of a snowflake out of that as you can. Glue the edges together of the 3 snowflakes until it sort of looks 3D. Set that aside and cut out eight smaller snowflakes out of the scrap paper (they can be identical or make them all different if you want). Next you will need to cut out a circle from the cardboard that is larger than the big 3D snowflake. Next cut a hole into the middle of the circle that leaves the circle at about a 2-inch width all the way around. Tape a piece of string to the top of your big snowflake and make sure it's about 2 feet long (if you want it to hang closer to the ceiling you cut it shorter but I wouldn't go shorter than 12 inches). Next cut four (roughly six inch) pieces of string -- all the same length. Tape them onto the cardboard circle so that they go towards the center of the circle and you could hang the circle by holding all four of these strings. Next tape those strings onto the larger string that is connected to the big snowflake so that it hangs a few inches above the big snowflake. Then use the string to hang all the smaller snowflakes around the circle and you will have a beautiful chandelier.
How do you make the snowflakes look 3D? And I was wondering if I could make this on a larger scale?
ReplyDeleteI made the snow flake (It's only the big one) 3D by using three and gluing their edges together. And the only thing you would need to make it on a larger scale is a bigger piece of paper.
